June 1998. The "Pelican" ferry transported cars between Lula, Ms. and Helena, Ar. The IC's only service to Arkansas was discontinued in the 1960's when a trestle leading to the ferry in Mississippi burned down. The fire appeared to be arson, leading to speculation that the railroad was somehow involved, as the fire gave the railroad an excuse to abandon the service.
